This compensation circuit reduces the reference oscillator's temperature coefficient by as much as a factor of 10 for superior frequency stability over temperature.  Instructions

If your K2 serial number is below 3000, we also strongly recommend installation of the BFO modification kit (BFOMDKT) before the PLL upgrade is installed. (K2s s/n 3000 and up already include the changes to the BFO circuit.) Also, K2 firmware older than 2.00 should be upgraded  (FWK2MCIO) to take maximum advantage of the PLL upgrade. Tuning linearity is much improved with the new F/W.

Included with all new K2s, s/n 3000+

Replaces L33 in the BFO oscillator with a new prewound 41uH toroidal inductor that has a  more temperature stable core. Replaces the two 12.096 crystals in the PLL ref. osc. with a single crystal for better temperature stability.

Improves BFO temperature stability on older K2s (less than s/n 3000.)  Also improves SSB carrier rejection on older K2s that had a solenoidal inductor at L33.

K2 Revision A to B Upgrade 
The mod kits listed below will upgrade an existing, BUILT, Revision A (or Field Test Rev.  XC) K2 to one equivalent to Revision B. (The revision number refers to the PC board revision.)

We recommend that you download the K2 A to B Upgrade Instructions to review all of the changes before deciding which mod kits to purchase, as some of them are optional, and you may have installed some of them previously.
